In conversation with Praveen Madaan, Country Head (SMT Division), Juki, LED World finds out what the company has in store in terms of product development and services for 2016.
LW: What is the current market scenario for the LED product segment that Juki is catering to?
Praveen Madaan: Juki is providing complete solutions for the PCBA assembly for LED lighting. Juki’s main product is a high-speed component mounter and we also provide semi-automatic printers, reflow ovens, manual insertion work station and wave soldering machines from a reliable partner.
LW: What is Juki’s latest offering for the LED market?
Praveen Madaan: Our latest offerings include: JX-350 @ 32000 CPH, RX6B @ 52,000 CPH, FX3RXL @ 90,000 CPH, with the capability to handle maximum size 33.5mm Sq. component and PCB size 905mm/1200mm/1500mm.
LW: What is the Indian market demand for this product?
Praveen Madaan: The demand is high due to the increase in LED lighting products. Customers are looking for high speed printers with a small footprint and our product is fulfilling that need.
LW: In which way is it an improvement over previous models?
Praveen Madaan: With a few modifications we have increased the speed by 20% and the running cost has also been reduced.
LW: As the country head for Juki India, in which direction will you steer Juki’s operations this year?
Praveen Madaan: As our installation base is increasing, we are expanding our organization to provide better service, focus on improving our customer base and sales volume and continue providing complete solution to our customers.
LW: What are your views on the current Indian LED market scenario? What changes do you hope to see in the coming years?
Praveen Madaan: I am expecting 20-25% growth every year in the LED Lighting industry for the next 5 years. The technology is becoming more affordable, lowering electricity bills and also helping reduce the carbon foot print. LED lighting growth is in line with ‘Make in India’ initiative taken by our prime minister and is generating jobs for the younger generation. Still there is a big gap between import and export. The industry is expecting more incentives from the Government in the field of LED components manufacturing, semiconductors and other electronic component development in India and to also attract FDI for this high capital-intensive industry.
