The 17th-century Mughal era monument, Lal Quila (Red Fort) was lit up with architectural lighting, known as ‘element illumination’, to enhance its architectural beauty after sunset. The lights have been installed at a total cost of about Rs.3-crore and it took almost two months to complete the setup. According to reports, LED lights have been used for the illumination. The new architectural lighting will cast programmed light on components such as domes, ramparts, minarets, arches and balconies from different directions to highlight their architectural details. The new illumination comprises simple yellow and static lighting. The famous landmark shimmered brightly with LEDs to mark the Independence Day in August 2018.
