The new lighting system on the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge at Main Street in downtown Green Bay is a sight to behold. If you didn’t think downtown could get any brighter, the bridges would definitely prove you wrong. They turned all colors of the rainbow with a new Philips LED lighting system. Mayor Jim Schmitt talked about the new multi-color LEDs during his State of the City address. The bridge will be used to commemorate national holidays, like lighting them up red for heart disease or pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They can also be lighted up to display high school team colors to show support when they compete at a state level.
