In a recent drive towards sustainability, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), one of India’s largest FMCG companies has announced that 14 out of its total 18 factories have now achieved 100% LED lighting.
The installation of these energy-efficient lighting helps the com-pany to achieve a significant reduction of approximately 25 lakh units per annum in energy consumption.
This eventually will help in bringing down the emission of around 20 lakh kg of carbon dioxide per annum, which is equivalent to the reduction in carbon footprint achieved by 80,000 trees every year.
This imperative move towards a better environment has been accomplished in phases by installing LED lights across different factories. Aiming to save the usage of electricity by 50 percent, HCCB is continuously working to meet all its energy needs through green and clean fuel by 2020.
The lighting makeover involved replacing all existing panel lights, high bay lights, flameproof lights, tube lights and high mast lights installed in different working zones such as shop floors, administration building, warehouses, canteens, office corridors, and open areas.
Establishment of solar rooftops, energy-efficient technology and more prominent investment in high-speed manufacturing lines, are a few of the other examples of the move which have been undertaken by the company in line with its commitment to sustainable production.
