Cubbon Park is going to get around 800 smart street lights which will automatically brighten or dim based on the movement of people in the park, time of the day as well as different seasons.
The smart LED street lights with motion and environment sensors are going to be installed over there. According to the officials of Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom), which is executing the smart lighting project in the park, the lights which can be monitored from a centralised control system are programmable according to changing seasons.
Moreover, the motion sensors will help in keeping the lights dim when there is no movement in the park. Also, the environmental sensors installed will help the lights dim during the long summer season and they will light up brightly when there is rain or winter season.
Smart display screens integrated with environmental sensors will also be put up which will display information about the pollution levels, event etc. Free Wi-Fi will also be provided to visitors as part of the makeover project.
