Lisbon is taking advantage of a Central Maine Power(CMP) program to replace its conventional street lights with energy efficient LED lights. According to CMP, the replacement will save the town an estimated $22,000 per year.
As per reports, the town will not have to pay any upfront cost from the installation of the lights, however, will enter into a 15-year agreement with the provider once the lights are installed. The town owns the poles whereas the light infrastructure will come under CMP.
CMP will furnish, own and maintain standard poles. Decorative lighting in the Lisbon Village area will be included in the agreement but done at a later date. Also, the town-owned lights in the Lisbon Falls won’t be replaced. The $22,000 calculation in savings is based on lights CMP was already leasing.
Poland and Sebago have recently received new lights through the program. Work in Dayton is expected to begin in April of 2019. Eighteen total agreements have been signed for LED replacement.
