Under UJALA scheme more than 31 crore LED bulbs have been distributed to the people of India. Also, it is expected that by June 2019 about 14 million street lights in the urbanlocal bodies across the country will be replaced by energyefficient LED lighting.
Moreover, there is a potential of another 2 crore streetlights spread across the country in areas such as rural segment, national highway, court authorities, railways and the army segment to be upgraded.
The country is gradually treading towards plans and steps which are beneficial and progressive. The next step is going to be smart lighting systems which deliver 5-10% energy efficiency from these LED street lights.
With the smart city schemes in order, it won’t be surprising that India will soon turn into a smart nation. In a bid to turn the cities smarter the government plans to roll out smart meters across the country. Procurement of 1 crore smart meters has already been done with the implementation of this in 4 states.
The LED revolution in India has reached a new stage with smart lighting technologies. The recent innovation in intelligent lighting is driving its popularity and demand everywhere. The launch of a gamut of energy efficient and IoT infused lights seen recently will cater to various needs from diverse sectors of the market.
