The Telecommunications Agency is going to start an investigation into fifty suppliers of LED lights as per reports. An earlier probe in 2016 showed that almost none of the 30 lights investigated complied with government standards.
LED lights have invaded every space we see around. With their endless benefits they are finding diverse applications everywhere such as cycle paths lit wit LEDs. However, according to recent reports, Inferior quality LED lamps bought via foreign websites risk interference with WIFI connections.
The agency is worried about the problem of Wi-Fi interference through the increase in use of the inferior LED lights which has drastically risen because more of the equipment in people’s homes is controlled via WIFI, including alarm installations and garage doors. The smart LED lighting has penetrated home all across the globe.
Furthermore, if LED producers fail to comply and improve the quality of the products on their own then the agency is going to take adverse measures such as removing a whole range of lights from market.
The advice from the agency is to buy good quality LED lighting which meets government standards. LED lamps are energy efficient as they use up to 85% less electricity than conventional light bulbs and halogen lamps. Also, the traditional lighting are on the way out, with production of most halogen lamps banned from September this year.
