A stretch of roads linked with National Highway- 2 are soon going to be illuminated with LED Lights. The Agra Development Authority (ADA) has contracted with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) to illuminate the city roads with LED streetlights.
Out of 42,000 street lighting points in the city, 6300 are maintained by ADA. Until now, 30,000 LEDs have been installed across 100 municipal wards in the city. However, 12,000 points are still to be covered. Officials said that ADA is in process of installing LEDs at 6300 points under its jurisdiction.
ADA secretary Mr Hariram said, “6300 street light points in the city are in areas maintained by the development authority. These include a stretch of National Highway-2, MG Road, Yamuna side road, parts of Fatehabad Road, Kalindi Vihar, Taj Nagri, among others. All these major roads will be illuminated with High power LEDSs
According to ADA officials, 400 watt sodium lights will be replaced with energy efficient 190 watt LEDs. Similarly, 250 and 85 watt sodium lights will be replaced with 110 and 45 watt LEDs.
