The Chennai Corporation cleared a 120-crore project to install 28,808 LED street lights. The proposed LED street light project is meant for the expanded areas including Tiruvotriyur, Manali, Madhavaram, Ambattur, Valasaravakkam, Alandur, Perungudi and Sholinganallur. However, the move has received flak from activists and opposition councilors claiming the decision to clear the multicrore LED project through a table resolution goes against convention.
