Government has been taking great measures in order to assure that common people are made aware of the benefits of LED lighting along with initiatives which focus on their implementation. However the private sector is now getting the drift of it.
Keeping up with that as well as the latest trend of energy saving through LED lighting, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) today announced that it is it is collaborating with Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. (EESL) for an LED replacement programme with energy efficient (EE) alternatives across 18 of its manufacturing facilities in India.
This is the first time that EESL is engaging with a private sector to promote and encourage use of energy efficient appliances in a working space. This is basically aimed at encouraging the private sector to adopt EE appliances.
The total investment made by Mahindra is about Rs. 16 crore in this project. The installation of LED will render a saving of about 20 million units of electricity per annum. Technical assistance, cost efficient procurement and project management services for this initiative across all Mahindra facilities has been provided by EESL. Under this programme EESL will make it feasible for Mahindra to manage its energy needs efficiently and affordably.
Speaking about this initiative, Saurabh Kumar, MD, EESL, said, “This partnership marks a very significant step toward promoting an energy efficient lifestyle among corporates and large facilities in India. We are very happy that Mahindra & Mahindra has undertaken this initiative and has set an example for the industry. We look forward to more such collaborations so that they adopt EE appliances that will help them in reducing operational costs through energy savings.”
