The world is evolving rapidly and trying to adopt measures which will make it greener and better for us humans. The revolution of LED which has surfaced and captured the current world is also seeping into smaller towns and villages albeit slowly.
Recently, the students and management of VVIT-Nambur replaced the old and conventional streetlights in Gollamudi village, Peda Kakani mandal in Guntur district with LED lights in keeping up with the latest trend of today of saving power and reducing carbon imprint. The VVIT adopted Gollamudi to develop it into a Smart village. Ponnur MLA, D. Narendra inaugurated the LED lights at Gollamudi on Saturday.
According to him, changing the traditional streetlights with LED bulbs would save Rs. 25,000 in power bill to the village Panchayat. VVIT chairman V. Vidya Sagar said that they will start other development works while Gollamudi sarpanch O. Jyothi, village secretary Sk Karimuddin and others were present over there. A move like this is not only progressive but also very beneficial in the long term. Not only, helpful in cutting down electricity bill but also very integral in turning the environment green.
