The Wartburg is a castle originally built in the middle Ages. In 1999, it was added to the list of World Heritage site by UNESCO. Zumtobel supplied luminaires from the Supersystem II SSL product family to the UNESCO World Heritage Site to improve the visitor experience, deliver energy savings, and enable flexibility for new exhibits. Zumtobel Supersystem II luminaires are providing better and improved lighting at Wartburg Castle, for the exhibit areas of 1000m2.
Zumtobel Supersystem II luminaires are multi-functional-LED lighting tool. These are high-quality; miniaturised lighting system for expert solutions to tricky lighting problems The SSL product family constitutes miniaturized and modular products. This will help in many accent and direct lighting effects. The installation of LED lighting has replaced a 20 year old legacy system.
The low energy cost and power consumption made SSL the best choice for lighting the castle. Due to the use of the LED lighting the requisite for adding more power cables was not needed and was fixed using the existing and old wires. As this monument comes under the UNESCO sight, it definitely needs to be taken care of. The main issue is the preservation of the exhibits in display.
Keeping that in mind, the team added potentiometers to each luminaire, enabling precise control of light levels to a maximum of 50 lx. The optical accessories and luminaire design also restrict light to just where it’s required for an optimum viewing experience.
The versatile nature of the Supersystem II range offers finishes that could be customized to match colors and the look for each exhibit area. Also, the modular system has made it easy for the curators to change the lighting for new exhibits whenever required in the future.
