Serbian architect Ivana Jelic and Pavle Petrovic have installed a LED version of famous Dutch painter Van Gogh’s painting ‘Starry Night’ on an Amsterdam bridge to celebrate city’s Light Festival. 1,400 acrylic rods, lit by small LEDs, have been used to recreate a section of the Dutch painter’s famous work, which glows above the waterway. The transparent rods are arranged in swirling formations to imitate brushstrokes while the surrounding architecture becomes part of the composition, replacing the village and trees in Van Gogh’s original painting. The alluring installation is a kind of awareness campaign about the issue of light pollution in cities, such as Amsterdam where orange glow permanently lights up the night sky.
