The city roads in Bhatinda are set to be lit with LED lighting solutions The Municipal Corporation Bathinda (MCB) has circulated a tender for the installation of 23,254 LED streetlights, at an estimated cost of Rs. 14.07 crore.
Under this street lighting project, MCB has planned to install SIM cards in the LED lights that will provide real-time information about the functionality of lights. Moreover, a dedicated monitoring room would also be made which will keep track of non-working lights.
A faulty streetlight would be detected in the monitoring room and problems would be resolved at the earliest. At present, the MCB waits for a complaint regarding the non-working of a streetlight, after which the work on its repair starts.
According to reports, last year too, the MCB had floated a tender for installing LED streetlights but had failed to get any bidders, due to which the project got delayed.
Members of the MCB sub-committee had visited Mohali to study the LED lights installed there and after coming back, they had given their consent for the project.
Earlier, a survey was carried out by the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). And, as per the reports the company has agreed that it would replace the streetlights with LEDs for Rs 5.18 crore. However, this has changed now as the MCB has planned to install new streetlights with LED bulbs on its own.
