The city which never sleeps gets another heritage monument illuminated in order to enhance its beauty and splendor. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) installed LED bulbs with different colour themes to illuminate the heritage bulding in order to mark its 125th anniversary.
The monument is attracting a lot many Mumabikars who are happy clicking selfies against the iconic monument. The installations of the LEDs will bring about Rs 1 lakh as electricity bills every month for BMC. For the entire year, the building will be lit continuously from 8pm till 2 am and would keep alluring passerby’s and locals.
In order to fix the LEDs the walls of the building underwent drilling at various places and the bulbs were placed at specified places. According to senior civic officer the building will be illuminated in various colour schemes such as green, pink, blue, white etc. as colourful LED bulbs have been installed which will amplify the beauty of the building.
The maintenance of the building will be looked for up to two years by Watchdog Security Company and small nails have been used in order to fix the LED bulbs. “Around 850 boxes of bulbs have been used and placed on the walls of the iconic building. Watchdog Security Company through tender process was selected for the procurement of these lights.
As the bulbs are LED, the consumption of power will be too low. Therefore, as per our assumption, we (BMC) would pay around Rs. 1 lakh for electricity bill every month, if the lighting is kept on for seven hours daily.” said senior civic officer
