Chippewa Falls Hydro Dam was installed with the latest LED lighting technologies. Also, the lighting was turned on recently that lit the building’s north side with a variety of colours. The new LED light display faces the new Chippewa Riverfront Park.
There are twelve newly mounted lights on the roof of the building; each has the potential of providing multiple colour displays. The colours will change throughout the year to match the season, or to commemorate special occasions in the city.
A letter from the Chamber of Commerce helped get the approval for the lighting makeover. Gopher Stage Lighting from the Twin Cities was hired as a lighting design consultant to create the display. The cost of the lighting upgrade was not disclosed however, it was significantly less as anticipated.
The new light display will also help in improving the ancient NSP sign, which was re-lit in December 2016 after not being turned on for decades. It was originally installed in 1968 and has now been modified with LED lights.
The utility is also planning to install kiosks along the walking trail at the park with historical information about the plant. Also, few unique benches with LED lighting have been supplied which are going to get installed in the park area.
