Osram Opto Semiconductors has come up with advanced DURIS® S 5 portfolio. The further improved and expanded new DURIS® S 5 family consists of various white and now also coloured medium power LEDs with compact dimensions and excellent efficiency, offering manufacturers and designers even more versatility and flexibility. DURIS® S 5 White provides flexibility in forward voltage and luminous flux with high lifetime even at high temperature. New phosphor, new lead frame and an upgrade of the chip lift the LEDs to a new level of performance. For smart lighting solutions and all kinds of coloured lighting applications, customers now can rely on the new DURIS® S 5 Color.
There are four colour versions – Red, Amber, Green and Deep Blue – offering high efficacy and excellent temperature stability. The footprint of 3.0 mm x 3.0 mm complies with industrial standards. All red, amber, green and deep blue DURIS® S 5 Colour versions can be used in colour mixing systems, as well as in combination with white LEDs. They are all based on the same chip technology using phosphor conversion to generate the saturated red, amber and green colors. Therefore, they all feature the same electrical behavior and are compatible with the DURIS® S 5 White, which greatly simplifies driver design.
Owing to their extremely high color efficacy and brightness, DURIS® S 5 blue and green enable less LED usage and smaller PCB design, and thus lead to cost savings in assembly. The good brightness over temperature stability of DURIS® S 5 red and amber makes less heatsink required thereby simplifying the retrofit design.
As far as application is concerned, DURIS® S 5 White is retrofit (omnidirectional, directional, linear) and suitable for household applications (pendant lighting, strip lighting, spotlight), retail shop applications (spotlight, downlight, linear lighting, freezer/display, shelf lighting), office lighting (downlight, linear/area lighting), architainment and hospitality (accent/mood lighting, cove lighting, strip lighting), as well as for industrial purposes (portable lighting, emergency lighting, high/low bay, linear lighting); while DURIS® S 5 Colour comes with unique features to be used as smart lighting, stage lighting, colour changing mood lighting designs, high colour quality tunable white retrofits, and high color quality tunable white LED fittings (RGB solution to achieve tunable white).
