Servokon Systems Ltd. is a renowned manufacturer and exporter of power conditioning products. The company has got an ISO 9001:2008 certification for manufacturing a wide range of distribution & power transformers, servo voltage stabilizers, special transformers and many more. Established in the year 1995, the company boasts of experience of more than two decades in this industry. Servokon has been developing its product line under the leadership of its Technical & Managing Director, Haji Kamruddin. He is a highly qualified person with a professional degree and 30 years of rich industry experience. In an email interview to LED World, he spoke at length about how the power conditioning industry is going further and if the advent of LEDs has impacted the industry in any way. Here are the edited excerpts to follow:
What new technology, Servokon has brought to the market of late?
Servokon produces a wide range of stabilisers in different categories. Today, it’s India’s number one company when it comes to manufacturing servo stabilisers. Servokon is also among the leading manufacturers of AC stabilisers and mainline stabilisers in the country.
We have maintained a quality standard in our product-line and all our products conform to the IS 9815-94 specifications. Before dispatching the products, we make sure that each and every electrical item passes through Insulation resistance test, Di-electric test and Insulation oil test. For all these quality tests, we have specially established a testing laboratory and R&D Department equipped with hi-tech machines & equipment.
How do you assess the impact of GST on electrical industry?
From manufacturers to the end consumers, GST has the concept of seamless flow of input tax credit across the supply-chain which includes fabricators, assemblers, dealers and distributers. So, the overall impact of GST is negligible.
Servokon is a well-known name in the industry today. Please trace your journey in brief?
Our company Servokon Systems Ltd. got incepted in the year 1995 with a sole motive of providing excellent and reliable power conditioning solution. Since then we have been continuously expanding our spectrum at global market place. With an ISO certification, Servokon is growing at a fast pace in developing power conditioning equipment for its clients. We started with an original and innovative approach for manufacturing a modular range of power conditioning equipment. Today, we are known name in the power conditioning and UPS industry.
What are the main challenges that the country’s power distribution industry is facing and what solution do you suggest?
The distribution transformer manufacturing segment is poised for fast paced growth despite some challenges in its way. The most pressing issue faced by the manufacturers is to obtain dual certification of BEE and BIS from two different authorities. As one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of Power Conditioning Products in the Industry, Servokon, remains committed to complying with all applicable consumer protection initiatives and safety standards through rigorous safety assessment and a series of tests for energy efficiency of all our products including the distribution transformers before they are placed on the market. We believe maintenance of a satisfactory level of quality is essential for any brand to achieve commendable success.
BEE & BIS certifications improve the brand image not only on national front but also on international front. How do you see this phenomenon?
The BEE and BIS certifications are also helpful in applying quality control measures and offering advantages such as improvement in the brand image, facilitation of standardisation and cutting down costs by avoiding defective production.
Simultaneously, they make the companies competitive by helping in accurate prediction of costs involved. Moreover, these certifications become helpful in selling the products in highly competitive international markets where quality assurance is a must. The only point of concern for the industry is the unavailability of a single window for obtaining these certifications at one place.
Today, companies are judged on their products as well as after sales service. How is Servokon prepared for this? What are your strategies and plans?
Servokon has already embarked on a strategic plan to strengthen its network pan-India to provide seamless after-sales services and on time maintenance to its valued customers. We already have strong dealers and distributors network to meet the growing requirement. Simultaneously, we are also running a nationwide campaign currently to appoint more dealers and distributors pan-India.
Recently, we held a mega dealers’ meet at Jammu which received tremendous response. More than 250 Servokon dealers and distributors from the state of Jammu & Kashmir had thronged the venue to witness the growth streak of Servokon.
Amidst all this development, how the advent of LEDs has impacted the power distribution industry?
The advent of LEDs has played an important role, especially when it comes to fail-proof lighting systems. For conventional light sources, it was tough to cope up with voltage fluctuations, and hence, power conditioning for lighting was inevitable. However, the power conditioning is not limited only to lighting, but goes beyond it to include other electrical appliances. Keeping in view the current scenario of power distribution system in India wherein voltage fluctuations are part and parcel, we don’t foresee a notable impact on stabilisers’ market.
