Design That Visually Communicates

It is hard to imagine a more perfect setting for The Belvedere Golf and Country Club that uses design to visually communicate with its users, rendering an ultimate leisure experience with a definite element of grandeur. A blend of design and functionality, the club house brings in varied design flavours woven into the modern architecture while making it functional. The diversity is blended with functionality & space. The architect in project is INI Design Studio, while the lighting designer is Lux Plus Design Pvt Ltd, Ahmedabad.
Why Lighting?
To maintain its comfort level as well as uniqueness, lighting has to be up to that level presenting a balanced combination of the two i.e. comfort and uniqueness. Setting the first impression of the club, the entry area must have the illumination level to give visitors eye-catching effect of the scenario. Accordingly, a master piece in combination of light and shadow has been thought and successfully implemented. The main challenge, as lighting designers we had, was to cater to a glorious landscape whilst enhancing it with lighting. Within every different zone, we had to choose a different type of lighting strategy to create a wonderful experience for all generations of visitors.
Major tasks for lighting of entrance lobby of club:
- Entrance lobby of the Club has to be an essential place where it should act as the Club’s first impression.
- The lighting of this stylist and luxurious Club has to be unique.
- Creating a seamless blend of Light and Architectural elements.
The design features harp heavily on the landscape, soul of project that effectively communicates to the viewer, rendering a classical public environment with intermediary classical private spaces. The entrance gate created a fascinating scene, which integrated light with landscape in such a way that it converts the place into a splendid transit zone for visitor.
Emphasising Main Areas
It is needful to emphasise the main access area to offer a promising first impression. For that, entire project team with lighting designer decided to create electrifying live lobby using light as a medium. At the entrance lobby, evenly wall wash using cove lighting throughout lobby with a flush of yellow, catches one’s attention.
It immediately draws into a rainbow of mystical colours seemingly appears to be casted in infinity. The corridor, dressed in a continuous alternation of hues and planes is created with thin swathes of marble inlaid in the flooring, the strips rising on the two sides as vertical wall fins that continue overhead.
Concealed aluminium profiles house LED RGB strips with special diffusers and DMX controllers to render a subtle kaleidoscopic effect. A lambent play of light and shadow is created by positioning the luminaires in alternate profile slots that further reflect onto the flooring beneath. From the coolest shades of blue to the warmest of vermillion, this dynamic light arrangement presents a connecting thread to the club interiors, a proverbial soul of its own.
The Belvedere Club has various spaces for relaxation like indoor theatre, kids play area, video game zone, card play area that are placed seamlessly to add aesthetics to the beautiful architectural ethos wherein lighting designer helps create a unique lighting design to justify the space. Indirect light with comfortness is the main idea of lighting design. Other interior areas like café room is designed with indirect lighting to offer a comfort level for guests, while the discotheque area has been decorated with a mixture of Indirect light and dynamic RGB light for creating energetic environment for guests.
Illuminating Indoor Game Complex
All indoor games like Squash, Snooker, Table Tennis, and Badminton are available to guests for entertainment. For these spaces, proper Lux level at playing height is mandatory requirement under sports lighting category. Lux level and glare level have to be maintained according to the given specification. Comfort with technicality is the aim for lighting design especially in Badminton area complex, which is comparatively bigger that those of other indoor sports areas. Lighting designer precisely worked over each detail and create a brilliant technical badminton court.
The Belvedere Club offers something for everyone among the mixed audience that the clubhouse intends to cater to. The Project houses multiple functions and a contrast of experiences from serene Poolside views of the Golf course to the vibrant atmosphere of sporting facilities, from ambience conducive to leisure and house sports for the party areas for friends, coffee and meeting spaces that are both business and casual. While catering to these myriad functions also maintaining their individual character bound together by Pool. Guests spend most of their times in front of Pool deck and watching incredible view.
For pool deck area lighting, the designer kept in mind the light reflection and refraction principles for illumination purpose, which ultimately counterfeit a blend of science with artistic scene. Violet and Amber shades have been wisely chosen for lighting at island and pool respectively. It creates a wall of light deep inside water through light refraction and simultaneously illuminates the façade by light reflection from water. Diffused LED Strips have been used as lighting source.
The Final Look
The final result was a splendid view for visitors as entire area look like showered in violet and amber colour. Lighting designer applied technical mind with artistic heart to create a mystic colour zone to emphasise entire club centre area, which of course is the Heart of the Belvedere Club. Lighting of this pool area is unparalleled.
Overall Lighting design of entire Club is based on integration, effortlessness, and precision which compliment architectural aesthetics of the Club. After mammoth hard work of the team, the outcome is a stunning lighting project, a perfect combination of light and architectural elements.
