The Urban Development Department of Assam will be installing standalone solar LED street lights across the urban bodies of the state. The bidding process for the contract is currently ongoing and the Directorate of Municipal Administration (Assam) will notify all successful bidders in the four zones selected for the project.
The scope of the project involves the design, supply and execution of setting up poles and erection of solar street lights. The project is expected to take 9 months (270 days) from the date of execution). The solar street lights will replace existing traditional lights that burden the state’s power consumption bill.
In a bid to ensure that the transition to change from traditional lighting to solar LED lighting is smooth, a warranty for onsite replacement has also been put in place. All contract winners will have to sign a finish warranty that includes servicing against nay kind of deterioration, failure or corrosion after installation of the LED lights. On-site replacement has to be provided which included removal and installation of the new lights when replacements are needed. Periodic servicing and cleansing of the solar lights have to be provided as well.
