Over 10,000 visitors witnessed a flower & light show at the Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bengaluru as part of 2020’s flower & light show city event. The 2020 edition of the event was dedicated to Swami Vivekananda. A grand flower and light show was held along with horticultural competitions.

Over 36,000 visitors were present during the first weekend. MR Chandrashekhar, Secretary of Mysore Horticultural Secretary was present at the event. He addressed the audience and revealed that over 120 people worked on the horticultural show that involved more than two months of work. Over 4 lakh flowers were placed for the event.

The tribute to Swami Vivekananda coincided with his 157th birth anniversary. The Lalbagh Botanical Garden’s Glasshouse was decorated with floral replicas and horticultural lights. Statues of Swami Vivekananda that were carved out of sandstone and bronze have also been installed to depict his life and works.

The botanical garden also screened a documentary and marketed book about Vivekananda. The event was a major success and was one of the highlights of this years’ flower and light show at the venue. The event also marked the beginning of Lalbagh Botanical Garden’s ban on plastic on its premises.
