The South Central Railway is one of the sixteen zones of the Indian Railways. The jurisdiction of the zone is spread over the states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana State and some portions of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. It has six divisions under its administration, which include, Guntakal, Guntur, Nanded, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Vijayawada. The South Central Railway (SCR) has accomplished the task of becoming the first railway zone in the country to complete 100 per cent LED lighting at all the stations under its jurisdiction.
The SCR has turned out to be a forbearer of adopting energy conservation measures. LED lighting is transforming the lighting scenario all across the world. With its energy saving features it is the driving force in the up-gradation of lighting all around. Lately, it has achieved the status of becoming the first zone in the Indian Railways to complete 100 per cent LED lighting in all the 733 stations under its jurisdiction, Chief Public Relations Officer M Umashankar Kumar said in a press release.
SCR General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav complimented the officers and staff for the achievement. “All the 733 railway stations on the zone have been provided with 100 per cent LED lighting,” Kumar said.
