In one of the latest news regarding LED business WORLD, Osram has announced the attainment of Boston-based Digital Lumens. Digital Lumens started in the year 2008 primarily focused on Solid state lighting (SSL) systems and the use of autonomous and programmatic controls to increase energy efficiency beyond the baseline savings credited to efficient LED sources. The nine year old Digital Lumens began making hardware and fixtures.
Basically, it is intended to be used in smart lighting systems for industrial as well as commercial use. Lately, it started working out as a provider of software needed to run such systems. Smart lighting is lighting in which the actual lightings are connected to each other and to a controlling hub through the internet is a subset under the trending Internet of things experience. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed as of now. The estimated price is touted as “mid-double digit millions”.
