The Zumtobel Group is planning to apply its LED solutions to empower LiFi, which is the latest technology in wireless. The trial was carried on alongside a partnership with pureLiFi that uses LED lights to send large amounts of data while appearing as a normal LED light to the human eye.

The LiFi trial conducted reflects a series of moves by Zumtobel to evolve lighting beyond its core function of pure illumination and find solutions for high-speed secure wireless connectivity.

Zumtobel has installed pureLiFi’s system with LED lighting solutions. The system rendered a data transmission via an LED luminaire at high speeds through small adjustments in the LED’s brightness. The result is a high-speed Internet connection that is more secure, reliable, and able to deliver bandwidth far beyond the potential of traditional wireless communications like Wi-Fi, as per the reports by the company.

The superior features of LiFi are that they are more secure and virtually interference free compared to other wireless solutions. This technology will make it feasible to leverage vast frequency spectrum resources of visible light.

Zumtobel plans to evaluate the market demand for this revolutionary technology over the coming months. Henceforth, the lighting giant will use LiFi to their advantage in order to create value for lead adopters from industries such as medical, defence, industrial and manufacturing.

By facilitating connectivity alongside their ground-breaking LED lighting technology, Zumtobel has the potential to become a leading supplier of high bandwidth data communication.
