The 2019 edition of LED Expo New Delhi concluded with brighter sheen than before as many exhibitors found the stage set for announcing their new products, highlighting the innovations that are happening in the lighting industry. Covering all aspects in efficient lights, the show welcomed next stage of lighting i.e. smart lights. The products and technologies displayed at the show ranged from residential to commercial, industrial and street-lighting.
There was a dedicated area tagged as Future Zone depicting how lighting industry in India is shaping up. Building smart cities being one of the major agendas for the government, many companies showcased integrated street-lights with automated systems to reduce overall maintenance. The exhibit area was seen packed with multi-purpose lights controlled by remotes and smart gadgets, evidently displayed India’s acceptance towards connected lights and urban living.
One such latest innovation was put forth by Tata Communications. Tata Communications LoRa® based street light controller enables organisations and communities to create energy efficient smart environments. The device allows enterprises and authorities to reduce their environmental footprint by orchestrating individual street lights remotely, through a connected network of device, cloud based IoT platform and to Tata Communications’ IoT network. The controller integrates with the LED light through NEMA connectors, providing added robustness towards external environment, making it ideal for outdoor deployments.
JAR Lights India has launched an auto clean solar street light and smart solar charge controllers with dual output and IR, RD remote operation. Auto-cleaning solar streetlights have been designed for areas with abundant of sunlight. These lights do not need any cables, wires, easy to transport, install and maintain. Solar charge controller, on the other hand, is an electronic device which controls the variation of the power produced from solar panel to charge the battery as well as run DC load. It is basically a voltage and/or current regulator to keep batteries from overcharging. It regulates the voltage and current coming from the solar panels going to the battery.
